In January 2014, a weeklong Certificate Course was organized for the benefit of the students. This course entitled ‘Nurturing Teacher Competencies for the 21st century’ included a session on Joyful Learning by Fr Nilesh Tuscano, a session on ‘Awareness about chemical dependence’ by Fr Joe Pereira, a reflective exercise on ‘Towards Inner Peace’ by Fr Francis D’Britto and a session on ‘Sensitization of teacher trainees towards media’ by Fr Raymond Rumao. Mr Prakash Almeida conducted a session on ‘Preparing for Teacher Eligibility Test’. These sessions encompassed different areas of teacher development and they are sure to pay rich dividends when the student-teachers enter their workplace. Another Certificate Course on ‘Personality Development’ was conducted under the able guidance of Fr Peter.
Pushpanjali College of Education, Vasai, Maharashtra established in 1990 is managed by the Society of Our Lady of Grace Convent. The college is permanently affiliated to University of Mumbai . In 2017, the college was re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A+’ grade and a CGPA of 3.51. The college has 12B and 2f status accorded by UGC and is recognized by NCTE. The college regularly organizes seminars, conferences, workshops and guest lectures to support academic endevaours and ensure wholistic development of the student-teachers. Teacher-educators and in service teachers also benefit from these programmes.
